Remembering Dr. Xandria Sutherland-Pollard
On Feb. 26, 2023, we lost a radiant light with the passing of Dr. Xan. Through the shared dream of opening a dental practice dedicated to creating beautiful smiles in a nurturing environment, she and Dr. Brian started this office in September 1996. Together, their dream thrived.
From the beginning, it was a team effort: Dr. Xan’s creative and aesthetic instincts, along with her organizational skills complimented Dr. Brian’s aptitude for handling numbers, insurances, and daily business aspects. When it came to dentistry, their visions and skills aligned.
Dr. Xan spent much of her youth in Jamaica before emigrating to the United States as a teenager. She settled in Camillus, NY with her older sister, Dawn, and became a West Genesee Wildcat. Dr. Xan remained local to attend Le Moyne College as a biology major and later furthered her education at NYU College of Dentistry where she received Her Doctorate of Dental Surgery. It was while attending dental school that Dr. Xan met Dr. Brian in the fall of 1988. After that moment, they spent time together every day, whether in person or on the phone when separated. They were each other’s constant companion. So, when Dr. Xan accepted a residency at the SUNY Health Science Center in Syracuse, NY, Dr. Brian was right beside her.
Although she is no longer physically with us, Dr. Xan’s memory and vision will forever be a part of Smile Design, D.D.S., P.C.
To our Dr. Xan, your staff, patients, and most of all, your family, miss you deeply. At the same time, we thank you for bringing an enduring vibrancy to our lives.
